    Masters of Soul

    Friday, October 18 at 7:30 p.m.

     

    Masters of Soul is a celebration of the legendary songs and performers that defined Motown and soul music. This 90-minute show features stylishly costumed, fully choreographed performances of both male and female groups backed by a live band. For many, Masters of Soul is the ultimate stroll down memory lane. For younger generations, the show offers an opportunity to experience an era in our country’s history that produced many of the greatest music acts ever recorded.

    The Jason Bishop Show

    From his breathtaking Double Levitation to his cutting-edge Op-Art and Plasma illusions, Jason Bishop features stunning & original state of the art magic. One thing that distinguishes Bishop is his virtuosity. Each show features award-winning sleight of hand, exclusive grand illusions and close-up magic projected onto a huge movie screen. No other touring illusionist showcases such a diverse array of talents. Additionally, the show is delivered with a totally modern energy and an outstanding rock & pop soundtrack.

    Nobuntu

    Saturday, November 16 at 7:30 p.m.

     

    Nobuntu, the female a cappella quintet from Zimbabwe, has drawn international acclaim for its inventive performances that range from traditional Zimbabwean songs to Afro Jazz to Gospel. The ensemble’s concerts are performed with pure voices, augmented by minimalistic percussion, traditional instruments such as the Mbira (thumb piano) and organic, authentic dance movements.

    Flamenco Vivo – Carlota Santana

    Friday, February 7 at 7:30 p.m.

     

    Reflejos Flamencos (Flamenco Reflections), the newest production by Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana, celebrates the fundamental emotions that connect us while honoring the individual human spirit inherent in flamenco. A new work by Jose Maldonado, heralded by The New York Times for his “bursts of brilliance and uncommon invention,” explores the notion of personal limits and connections across borders – both literal and figurative. Reflejos Flamencos includes traditional solos highlighting the dancer’s virtuosic technique and nuanced improvisation, offering a transformative experience of dance and live music.

    Missoula Children’s Theatre: The Emperor’s New Clothes

    Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 2 & 5 p.m.

     

    Returning to West Chester for the 12th year, the country’s preeminent professional children’s theatre company, the Missoula Children’s Theatre, returns to WCU and will once again recruit more than fifty local children to stage an original musical
    adaptation.

     

    Auditions: Monday, March 9, 2020 at 4:30 pm in the Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall, Philips Memorial Building (700 South High Street).

    Approximately fifty roles are available for local students ages kindergarten through 12th grade. No advance preparation or experience is necessary. Just be ready to have a good time!

    Johnny Peers & the Muttville Comix

    Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 3 p.m.

     

    A show for the whole family and the dog lover in all of us, the show stars mostly dogs rescued from shelters or pounds, like Murphy, the ladder climbing Fox Terrier and Willy, the Border Collie who only answers to “Sir.” The 2003 Animal Planet Pet Star Winners, the Providence Journal-Bulletin calls the show, “…a truly funny, slapstick dog act.”
