Ashley Tischler Darlington & Tonda DiPasquale – The Women of West Chester

Ashley Tischler Darlington & Tonda DiPasquale – Co-Owners of Tish Boutique

    Years in business: Five

Tish Boutique started the way many great ideas hatch — at a party, over champagne. Partygoers admired Ashley’s outfit, and the conversation turned to her dreams of opening a boutique. Tonda was there and interested in a new venture. Soon, the plans came together for a hometown boutique in West Chester that would offer a cultivated selection of cutting edge contemporary styles that celebrate confident women and femininity.

“The idea of being your very own girl boss is really empowering,” says Tonda. Ashley adds, “It was one of the most important motivators.”

Another motivator? Creating a welcoming, non-threatening atmosphere to help women express themselves. “We hope we can help women expand their personal style,” says Ashley. “Knowing that women have a wonderful experience from start to finish would be a great legacy.”

"Always strive for something that's going to challenge you."

They agree that owning and running Tish has taught them how much women can accomplish when they work together. “Starting any business is a big risk,” says Ashley. “Having that support is a huge asset to a successful business.”

“Women are supportive, hardworking, and dedicated,” says Tonda. “The joy is that women can celebrate together, cry together, and anguish together.”

“Be curious,” Ashley advises. “Don’t be afraid to try new things, and always strive for something that’s going to challenge you.”

They have advice for budding female entrepreneurs — jump in, take risks, and stay focused. What you don’t know, ask, they say. Work hard, and enjoy the ride.

They also suggest surrounding yourself with talented people. “There are some really amazing women in West Chester,” they agree. “We see women being leaders by encouraging one another and by offering ideas and advice. It’s great to see women making West Chester a destination town with successful businesses.”
