Creating a home for world-class performing arts in downtown West Chester was no easy feat. The dream began in 2010, when an enthusiastic group of changemakers began holding performances in a variety of spaces all over town to raise awareness, support, and funds. Five years later, the process of renovating the historic National Guard Armory on North High Street into a state-of-the-art performance venue began. The dream became a reality when Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center opened its doors in 2017.
Today, Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center offers a full calendar of events including live theater, music, comedy, renowned speakers, film, and a theater school for children. Because of this diverse programming and wide outreach, the theater has become a central community gathering place that not only fosters a love of the arts, but also drives brand new audiences downtown to dine and shop.
Annual memberships at various levels are vital to the success of the theater, which enhances the quality of life in West Chester, promotes arts education, and supports the local economy. Each contribution helps to underwrite daily operations and keep ticket prices affordable.
As Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center looks to the future in anticipation of more sold-out performances
