Making Change: WhirlAway Travel, Travel Consultant

Jamie Jones, owner of WhirlAway Travel, is passionate about connecting people to new experiences, cultures, foods, and wildlife to change their perceptions of the world. “Travel is humbling,” she says, “and it affects your soul.” WhirlAway’s custom services help people see the world in a way that most cannot do on their own.

Jamie’s mother bought the agency 33 years ago, but Jamie had no interest in the travel industry herself because she thought it was a dying industry. She worked in social services, but when she had children of her own she wanted a change. “Little did I know that my mom passed down the travel passion and I fell in love with it!” she says.

“Travel is humbling,” she says, “and it affects your soul.”

The travel industry, she knows now, is alive and well. “We’re able to do so much more than book a trip because of our insider knowledge and access,” Jamie says. WhirlAway’s expert team creates incredible experiences and memories for clients, in addition to saving them valuable time. Collectively, they have more than 100 years of experience and are focused on value, service, and making sure every client is a good fit for their consultative travel services.

Jamie’s fondest memories are of traveling with her family—from Grand Cayman to Paris and climbing Coba with her kids. She’s a vegan and animal lover and was recently featured in the New York Times as an expert on vegan and vegetarian travel. She’s also highly engaged in her industry and sits on the Board of Directors of Signature Travel Network.

“Many people are amazed we still exist,” she says. While WhirlAway’s business model and services have changed over the years, the value they provide has not. Customized travel, end-to-end experiences, and memories are priceless.
