    Q & A With Popular Gastro Pub, Ram’s Head Bar & Grill

Ram’s Head Bar & Grill is a go-to spot for amazing food and daily entertainment. We love swinging by to meet friends for a beer after work! We recently caught up with the Assistant GM, Tonni Hill, and had a chance to ask her how Ram’s Head has become such a mainstay in the West Chester Community. Her answers made us quite hungry!

How would you describe the atmosphere & food at Ram’s Head? What can a guest expect when they come for a drink or a bite?
Rams Head has always been a gastropub – a bar that serves elevated pub food with a focus on craft beer and whiskey. Apart from our awesome food, we think our employees are what truly makes Rams Head great. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service and attentive staff. Our customers always come back to hang out with our bartenders or see their favorite server.

How long has Ram’s Head been in West Chester? And, why West Chester?
We just passed our 10 year anniversary in West Chester. West Chester was still up and coming when we opened and it’s really turned into a destination for families and has become a great community. We like to think that we have contributed to the popularity of the town in recent years. And we feel very lucky to still have loyal customers.

What is the go-to drink you’ll be serving this summer?
We just added a Levante Cloudy and Cumbersome Beer-Mosa to our drink menu. It’s definitely a go-to weekend drink. We also have a Blueberry Mojito made with Bacardi Limon that is a huge hit with our regulars.

Chef James Jones created the Asian Pork Tacos which just won the Chef’s Best Award at the Foodie Fight Cooking Competition. Tell us about those tacos!
The tacos are made with homemade slow roasted pulled pork tossed in an Asian glaze. It’s topped with jalapenos, carrots, and a cilantro lime drizzle and served with a side of chips and Pico de Gallo. A showstopper for sure!

Where does Chef James get his inspiration for new dishes?
James says he pulled a lot of inspiration from other dishes/chefs, whether it’s on Instagram or while dining at other restaurants. Sometimes he tries a dish and thinks of a way to improve it or change it slightly, or he gets inspired by a specific ingredient in that dish and builds a new one from there.

What is the Chef’s personal favorite menu item?
His favorite dish to eat is the Fried Brussels app (fried Brussels tossed in a cilantro lime ranch seasoning with pickled vegetables, pepperoncini, and a honey Sriracha sauce). It is a nice mix of classic flavors with some trendier ingredients like the Brussels sprouts. It also has some vibrant and bright notes from the pickled vegetables. His second go-to is the Black Bean Burger for when he wants something a little heartier.

Your cheesesteak has won Best Bite in Town for countless years in a row. What makes your cheesesteak stand out from the crowd?
It is hard to argue with quality ingredients. We use filet meat as part of the base and in addition to American cheese, we top it with a homemade gruyere fondue. I think the fondue helps really push it over the edge and is what people love about it. We serve it at the West Chester restaurant festival every year!

West Chester wouldn't be anything without the people who live here.

What do you love most about being a part of the West Chester community?
West Chester wouldn’t be anything without the people who live here. Whether it’s staff from another bar or a family coming in for dinner, we enjoy getting to know everyone. It is also a great town for small businesses. It is a friendly, restaurant-focused community and there is a lot of cooperation among business owners.
Do you have any weekly specials or events that we should know about for the summer months?
We have some great weekday specials and events. Monday night we have Quizzo at 8:30 PM and every Tuesday from 5pm-10pm kids eat free. We are also participating in the WC Craft Beer Festival on June 22nd.
