    Creative Escapes: Brandywine Critters

    CREATIVE ESCAPES: Brandywine Critters, Wed, Oct. 18, 2017, 6 – 8 pm
    $20 members, $25 non-members
    Are you seeking a creative outlet but find that your time – and training – are limited? Come to the Brandywine River Museum of Art to unwind, mingle and make a holiday critter! Designed for adults who want to awaken their inner crafter, this workshop will guide participants through simple instructions to create a reindeer and owl using natural materials, drawing inspiration from the famous Brandywine Critters that have been made by volunteers since 1972. No experience necessary. Participants need to bring a glue gun (and are encouraged to bring clippers, scissors, and tweezers); price includes all other materials (including glue sticks) and light refreshments. BYOB!
    The workshop will be held in the Critter Workshop on the museum campus; greeters will direct participants in the parking lot. The workshop will open at 5:30 p.m. with the class beginning at 6:00 p.m. Register on line at http://www.brandywine.org/museum/events

    Dracula

    The mystery of Dracula unfolds in an old, stone castle set in Europe. Prince Dracula and his bride Elisabeta are madly in love when the Prince is called into battle. Believing that her beloved has been killed, Elisabeta takes her own life. Upon his return, Dracula finds his bride has died, and becomes a madman in his heartbreak. He vows, “never to die,” and terrorizes the lands as a vampire. This tale of love, heartbreak, and the reunion of two lovers will excite, thrill, and intrigue audiences.

    Get all-day access to Kuerner Farm, a National Historic Landmark, where Andrew Wyeth found intriguing subjects for hundreds of tempera paintings, watercolors and drawings for more than 70 years. Artists working in all media are invited to explore the property where they can sketch, paint or photograph and may gain insight into Wyeth’s creative process on an optional guided tour.

    Participants will meet at the Brandywine River Museum of Art parking lot at 9:15 a.m. before driving their own vehicles to the farm. Water and bathrooms are available at the site. Participants are responsible for providing all art materials. Event will be held rain or shine.
