    It’s a new year with new events! 

     

    There is a whole new lineup of great events at Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center here in West Chester. Here’s what’s up at Uptown! in January 2019.     Event: Joe Conklin Comedy Show

    When: Thursday, January 10 and Friday, January 11 

    About: Joe Conklin is a Philadelphia radio personality, comedian and impressionist. He’s been heard on morning radio in Philly since 1986. On 94.1 FM WIP’s morning show he’s known for his impressions of Donald Trump, Joel Embiid, Merrill Reese, Charles Barkley, Allen Iverson, Ed Rendell, Barack Obama and many others.

     

    Event: Speaker Series Movie And Talk Back featuring Goodnight Ladies: The Life Story of Nancy Penn Smith Hannum with Christianna Hannum

    When: Tuesday, January 15

    About: Award winning film directed by Christianna Hannum about her legendary grandmother – accomplished horsewoman and one of the world’s greatest Masters of Foxhunting. ‘Goodnight Ladies’  is the winner of the EQUUS Film Award, a Rome Finalist and was screened at the 2018 World Equestrian Games. Special Q & A with filmmaker after film viewing.

     

    Event: Jazz Cocktail Hour – Prohibition Party! with vocalist Chelsea Reed & The Fair Weather Five, with performances by The Swing Kat Dancers

    When: Thursday, January 17 (orders for food must be received by January 12)

    About: Chelsea Reed & The Fair Weather Five play at all the best swing dances, jazz clubs and concert halls from renowned Philadelphia venues to nationwide Lindy and Blues exchanges and workshops. They’ve had the honor of sharing the stage with trombonist Wycliffe Gordon, and he is featured on their 2017 release, Spreadin’ Rhythm Around. They love exploring the roots of jazz and finding creative ways to interpret forgotten songs. Featuring a menu provided by Delightful Desserts. 

     

    Event: Better Than Bacon: Improv Comedy

    When: Friday, January 18 

    About: Better Than Bacon performs in completely unscripted improvisational games, which are all driven by YOUR suggestions and interactions. Every word and every action is completely made up on-the-spot…it is never the same show twice!

     

    Event: World Cafe Live Presents Echoes, The American Pink Floyd

    When: Saturday, January 19

    About: Join Echoes, the American Pink Floyd, as they perform hits from 7 different Pink Floyd albums including the classic “Dark Side of the Moon.”

     

    Event: Dueling Pianos 

    When: Thursday, January 24

    About: Dueling Pianos at Uptown! features a new duo of talented and entertaining pianists every month. Audience driven, it’s never the same show twice!

     

    Event: Hypnotizing America

    When: Saturday, January 26

    About: International Hypnotist Tim Miller comes to Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center on Saturday, January 26th. Hypnosis shows have been around for over 200 years, but none like this one. When performing his Comedy/Motivational Hypnosis Show, Tim continually creates new, hilarious, fun, and original material. Members from the audience have the opportunity to volunteer to be hypnotized which leads to a performance the audience will never forget. Come for music, dancing, laughter, excitement as the show plays out on stage and in the audience!
